Ian Cairl is from central New Jersey where he was raised by an artist mother and “original hipster” father on a humble farm property. Since the time he was a young child, he has viewed everything he saw as a potential project, looking for new ways to use everyday items, being consistently taught by his parents to use imagination as his muse and play mate. If he didn’t have something, make it… if he couldn’t make it, imagine it. Using these lessons from youth and skills he has honed over many years of hard work, he specializes in woodcraft, utilizing reclaimed and natural wood, sometimes combining it with metalwork. Cairl has an amazing talent for seeing the natural beauty that lies within the wood and then highlighting those elements for the viewer.
